Rocken Our Genes!!

Caden and County Major of Montgomery County Tennessee Jim Durrett
Graduate Student in Speech-Language Pathology completed a Graduate Seminar on Down syndrome with a super fun service learning project on October 11th. As part of their study the ladies learned about leadership, advocacy and professional service.  They put this knowledge to work at the 3rd Annual Community Advocating for Every Special Citizen (CARES)Walk and Expo. The event is hosted by the Clarksville Association for Down syndrome and City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation.

I can't brag on these students enough and although we did not take home first place for the t-shirt contest the Speech Ladies  added to the fun. The seminar students created a photo booth that went with the event theme "Rocken my Genes! Our booth was one of over 50 that served the community at the 1-mile fun walk and expo attended by over 500 individuals.

Community members used all kinds of fun props and poses to show off their Genes!
The Speech Ladies took over 100 pictures of community rock stars!
