Dear CDI Students,
Have you ever wondered how we pick the assessments or interventions we use? We do this based on the principles of evidence based practices (EBP). With this approach to practice speech-language pathologists and audiologist compliment their clinical expertise with empirical support when selecting assessments and interventions. We also consult with our stakeholders and consider what they value to make a decision. As you pursue graduate education and certification you will be required to be a consumer of evidence found in empirical studies. Our librarian Candace Vance is offering you a session, especially designed for future speech-language pathologists and audiologist.
I encourage you to consider attending this opportunity. Life beyond MSU is more than submitting a paper for a grade, it is about being the best at what you do. You wouldn't go to a doctor who was not current in their field so don't expect our clients to do the same.
Enjoy this scholarly activity- kelly

NSSLHA Back to School BBQ

On September 2, 2014, the Murray State University NSSLHA chapter hosted the highly anticipated and always fun back-to-school BBQ event at Chestnut Park. This annual event is held with the purpose of welcoming incoming students, reuniting with familiar faces of returning Communication Disorders students, and mingling with the faculty of our program.

Despite wet and muggy conditions, the BBQ was an extreme success. We had over 70 students and faculty in attendance. It was also a pleasure to have the Dean of our new college, Dr. Whaley, come introduce himself and discuss the new dynamics and structure for the College of Education & Human Services. All in all, it was a great afternoon filled with delicious food and lots of interaction among underclassmen, upperclassmen, and faculty.

We would like to say thanks for making our first event grand!
